Helix Sleep vs Herobed

Are you waking up tired, cranky, or in pain? You deserve a good night’s sleep every night, so you can wake up ready to tackle each day with a clear mind and rejuvenated body. The first step toward waking up happier is going to sleep happier — and that can only happen by going to bed on a mattress that’s right for you. We’ll get you started by examining a couple of popular models in the mattress industry today.

If you and your partner disagree on sleep firmness, Helix allows you to order a mattress based on both of your sleep preferences. Each of you enters his or her height and weight into an online order form and answers a list of questions about your ideal level of firmness, sleeping positions, and more. Helix takes the answers and either builds an entire mattress that combines both sets of preferences, or (for $100 more) creates two separate sides based on each sleeper’s answers and then fuses the two sides together. This is a really cool idea, but how do you know if you are answering the questions correctly, and getting the right comfort for you?

Herobed’s hybrid mattress is a new bed-in-a-box offering the long-lasting support of over 3,000 patented micro coils that deliver consistent comfort and support for the body, along with the contouring comfort and cooling aid of gel-infused memory foam. The mattress is made to satisfy preferences of most sleepers regardless of body size or sleeping positions.

Which one is right for you?

The Mattress Construction

Helix Sleep mattresses are built with 10.5 inches of material broken into four layers. Densities and weights vary based on sleep preferences selected by the consumer.

  • Support foam to form the foundation.
  • Polyfoam for transitional support between the comfort and lower support layers.
  • Micro coils to provide pressure relief, bounce, and comfort, although the coil count is not listed on their website.
  • Synthetic Dunlop latex used to provide bounce, cooling, and responsiveness.

Herobed is comprised of 10.5 inches of high-quality foam and over 3,000 micro coils within five layers:

  • High-density poly foam creates a supportive base.
  • 891 patented Posturfil pocketed coils provide incredible base support, pressure relief, and ventilation.
  • Transitional poly foam aids in reducing motion transfer.
  • Over 2,00 comforting micro coils offer bounce, support, and comfort.
  • Memory foam infused with cooling gel offers a reactive, odorless surface that dissipates heat three times faster than conventional memory foam.

The Box

Helix Sleep ships in a blue box with white lettering.

Herobed shows up in a fun box covered with illustrations of a teacher, a firefighter, and a mom – everyday heroes who work hard to lift others around them. Inside are a cape and crayons for you to work your creative magic. The box is part of the #TagAHero campaign, in which people are asked to nominate everyday heroes for a chance for their hero to win a free mattress.

How Will You Be Sleeping Tonight?

The idea of customizing a mattress for two different sleepers is a fairly new concept, so it’s hard to gauge how a Helix mattress will turn out. Herobed’s two separate layers of micro coils offer responsiveness and minimal motion transfer, while its top layer of gel-infused memory foam provides cool, conforming comfort on both sides of the bed.

We are obviously a big fan of using micro coils in a mattress but the type of coils you use and how you position them is extremely important.
