FAQ Herobed

What is a True hybrid mattress?

We define a True Hybrid mattress as using both a combination of coils and foam to produce active comfort and support. Herobed is built using a layer of base foam, support coils, a layer of transition foam, contouring coils, and gel memory foam.

What’s the difference between Herobed and other Bed-in-a-box brands?

Most other online brands use the same old design concept utilizing a combination of different types of foam and/or latex.

Where is Herobed made?

Herobed is proudly hand made in the U.S.A. and ships direct to your door from North Carolina.

Why does Herobed use two different kinds of coils?

We use two different kinds of coils because they are engineered to serve different purposes. The support coils have a wider base and are used for underlying support and the comfort coils conform to the contours of your body and provide active comfort.

Why do coils matter?

Compared to latex and memory foam, coils have a longer comfort life.   Micro coils only have a 5% loss compared to 16% – 22% in other upholstery layers, which means Herobed will feel like it did the day you bought it for a longer period of time than beds made with all foam.

Why do you only offer one model?

We believe our true hybrid construction utilizing both high quality foams and advanced micro coil technology, can provide active support and comfort suitable for most sleeping positions.

How much weight is Herobed designed to support?

The Herobed mattress is designed to support individual weights up to 350 lbs.

How much does the mattress weigh?

    • Twin – 65 lbs
    • Twin XL – 69 lbs
    • Full – 85 lbs
    • Queen – 94 lbs
    • King – 112 lbs
    • Cal-King -110 lbs

Is there an adjustment period?

It can take several weeks to adjust to a new mattress so we recommend giving your body a minimum of 30 days to adjust to a new sleep surface.

What is the 100-night sleep trial?

We want you to be completely satisfied with your new Herobed.  If for some reason you find it’s not the right fit for you, simply email us at support@herobed.com and we can schedule a pickup.  We just ask that you give it a chance for at least 30 days to allow your body to adjust to new support.

Will the mattress leave a smell or any off-gas?

Initially, you may notice a “new mattress smell” due to it being enclosed in the wrapping, but it goes away within 24 hours.

Do you use a flame retardant?

Our fire barrier is composed of inherent textile materials that encases your mattress. The fire sock functions to smother and dampen flames by preventing oxygen from the feeding the fire. Our mattress meets the requirement of 16 CFR part 1633.

What type of foam do you use in the Herobed mattress?

We use high-grade foam certified by the CertiPUR-US program. Our foam has been tested to meet rigorous standards for emissions, content, performance, and durability. The foams we use are made without ozone depleters, flame retardants, mercury, lead and heavy metals. If would like more information on the CertiPUR-US program click here.

Setup & Care

What setup do you recommend for Herobed?

The best set up for Herobed is anything that provides uniform and consistent support.  A foundation, a traditional box spring, a solid platform bed or one that has slats that are no more than 3 inches apart. You can also place it on an adjustable base, or even directly on the floor.

How do I unbox my Herobed mattress?

Lay the box on it’s side, and pull the mattress out. Place the rolled-up mattress in the center of your foundation. Using the provided letter opener, carefully cut and pull the plastic wrapping away from the mattress. Watch your mattress expand into a super comfortable bed right before your eyes.

How long does it take Herobed to be sleep-ready after removing it from the box?

Once you take it out of the plastic, the Herobed mattress will expand to its normal height in just a few minutes and will be ready for a great night’s sleep.

Do I ever need to flip the Herobed mattress?

No, it is not necessary to flip your mattress. The blue fabric encases the base support layer and should always be located on the bottom of the mattress.

Do I ever need to rotate the mattress?

It is not necessary your mattress, but you certainly can if you would like.

How should I clean the mattress cover?

We don’t recommend removing the cover to wash it. Instead, you should use a mild detergent and cold water to blot areas of the mattress cover that need cleaning.

What type of sheets do you recommend?

Most standard sheet sets will fit the Herobed mattress.  Any fitted sheet with strong elastic sewn around the perimeter will work best.  We recommend using a mattress protector along with your sheets to protect your bed.

How long can I keep the mattress in the box?

We recommend not to keep the mattress in the box any longer than 30 days.

What is a Recycling Fee?

New laws require retailers to collect a recycling fee on each mattress and box spring sold in California, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The amount of the fee was approved by the state and is not set or controlled by individual retailers. Even if you aren’t parting with your mattress right now, a mattress doesn’t last forever, and will eventually be discarded. The program uses a network of participating cities, towns, retailers, recyclers and other organizations to collect, transport and properly recycle your old mattress. The Mattress Recycling Council (MRC), a non-profit organization established by the mattress industry, created and manages the program.
